Welcome to George Parker's Wiki Home Page

This Wiki Page includes all of the assignments that were completed through my course at the University of West Georgia entitled Instructional Technology course. These assignments will become a part of my electronic portfolio, it exhibits the use and application of various technology and the ability to apply them in different contexts. This information will be helpful to classroom teachers to expose their students to a choice in instructional delivery methods. Additionally, as a teacher of special education students the content learned in this course will assist me in serving my students in an optimal fashion.

  • The Instructional Technology course is a course that is very helpful to classroom teachers who want to implement technology into their teaching repertoire. In order to attain success in this class you must have time to experiment with the various programs and applications. In using or trying out the various applications be prepared to have more than one attempt and expect there to be kinks to be worked out before getting the gist of the application. Keeping a calendar with assignment due dates and copies of rubrics are also good strategies to use to be successful in this instructional technology course. Exercising patience is also a needed strategy.
  • The best work shown in my Instructional Technology course was the Adaptive and Assistive technology assignment. This assignment was my best because it was a strategy that I could immediately implement in the classroom with ease. I was not aware that there were so many educational game sites. The sites are easy for the students to use and provide support. The students that I teach are sometimes physically challenged and I have now added more strategies to my teaching toolbox.
  • In my profession I believe that technology will play a colossal role being that I am teaching in the technology age. I am certain that technology will be used to differentiate instruction and be included daily in my lesson plans. My classroom will show evidence of instructional technology being used for direct instruction via the smart board, group and individual projects, and through the use of adaptive technology when needed. After taking this course I am more comfortable with technology as it relates to instruction and instructional outcomes. This level of comfort has afforded me an opportunity to plan meaningful relevant technology lessons that will appeal to this "technologically advanced " generation of students. This form of instruction is relevant to them and thus will get them interested and motivated.
